How Annotated works

Four moves: clip, annotate, share, engage.

Clip any media

Highlight text, scrub a video, or grab a podcast clip — straight from the page you're on. Maximum 90 seconds, optimized to 240p.

Add commentary

Type your take or record a voice note. Your perspective lives alongside the source forever.

Follow & discover

Build a feed of takes from people whose perspectives you trust. Comment on theirs, hear what they think of yours.

Fair to creators

Every annotation links back to the original. One-click claim filing for rights holders, with full counter-notice support.

Chrome & Edge extension

Annotated lives in your sidebar

The browser side panel keeps Annotated one click away on every page you visit—in Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Your feed, your clipping tools, all without leaving the article.

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1
Get it from your browser's store
Search for Annotated in the Chrome Web Store or Microsoft Edge Add-ons.
  2. 2
    Add the extension
In Chrome, click Add to Chrome. In Edge, click Get. Approve the permissions — we only ask for what's needed to read the active tab and open the sidebar.
  3. 3
    Pin the extension
Click the puzzle icon in your toolbar and pin Annotated. Click the icon to open the side panel anywhere on the web.

Privacy: We don't track you. The extension only reads page metadata when you open the side panel — never browsing history.
